Esperance 4×4 Guided Tour - 4 Days

Are you the remote traveller, always taking the road less travelled? If you are, then this is precisely what you are after!

WARNING: This is a very remote location. Travellers will need to be very well prepared, self-contained and fully self-sufficient. Access is low range four-wheel drive and for experienced four-wheel drivers only. Long-range fuel tanks recommend for this trip 130 litres+ is ideal

It all starts close to town. We will head east and make our way to a fascinating heritage site and an attractive camping spot. Yes, the corrugations are terrible, and some ruts would quickly have a large chunk of 4WD’s bottomed out. Hence, the reason we travel in a group.

We will be visiting some of the states most beautiful remote National Parks, which features sweeping heathlands, rugged coastal peaks and white sandy beaches voted the best in Australia.

The trip is ideal for the experienced 4WD person who prefers going in a small convoy where help and guidance are always available. As you will be in remote areas, there will be limited mobile phone reception. You will cover large sections of sealed roads and travel to significant national parks.

Day 1
The Dunes Rock!

We’ll do into’s and inductions, and from here, the adventure begins! We’ll fuel up and meet at the Puma service station at 49 Norseman Road in Esperance. Only a quick drive on the blacktop, and it’s time for our first 4wd photo opportunity! We’ll go up against giant rocks and have a play in the dunes after visiting the pink lake.

After lunch, it’s onto the Esperance Stonehenge. It’s the only full-size replica of the original Stonehenge in the UK. It appears as the original would have looked around 1950BC. It consists of 137 stones of Esperance Pink Granite that were all quarried locally less than 1km from the Stonehenge final resting place.

We’ll hit the dirt before setting up camp in a campsite for the first night of deliberations.

Meals: self-catered (Full kitchen to share)

Accommodation: powered campsite, full facilities available

*Route depending on track conditions

Day 2
Cape Le Grande

We’ll move to a second caravan park and yip; this is where the sand feels like you are walking on flour. This day is full of short drives to investigate and explore around Cape Le Grande. There are lots to explore. There’s even walks for those who are keen to do a bit of walking? The walks dotted out on a very rough map from the caravan park. What you’ll see will be unique.

After getting back from the beach driving, it’s time for some squid fishing off the rocks near the camp, and it won’t be long before you get lucky. It sounds like calamari dinner.

Meals: self-catered (there will be a BBQ and camp stove to share)

Accommodation: powered campsite, full facilities available

Day 3
Remote Israelite Bay

We’ll take on the flat-bladed sandy track for the last 64km to Israelite Bay. Here we’ll visit the remains of the original Israelite Bay Telegraph Station. There are no facilities at Israelite bay, and that’s why we need to be self-sufficient. There is no phone coverage in this remote area. We’ll have satellite communication tools for emergencies.

The first thing that strikes you when you arrive is the scale and remoteness of the place.

We’ll set up a basecamp in the designated camps area and explore the famous fishing spots for dinner.

Meals: self-catered (there will be a BBQ, open fire and camp stove to share)

Accommodation: Unpowered, No Facilities

Day 4
Return to Civilisation

After a late start and breakfast, we’ll make our way back to Esperance.

Estimated return, around lunchtime.

After lunch, we’ll say our goodbyes and go our separate ways with incredible memories that will last a lifetime!
