Holland Track 4×4 Guided Tour - 4 Days

An inland bush adventure that takes you on the historic Holland Track, used by prospectors during the Kalgoorlie Gold Rush of the late nineteenth century.

Join us for a 4-day, off-road 4×4 adventure following in the footsteps of the early gold prospectors as they made their way from Albany to the goldfields of Coolgardie.

We meet at Broomehill at 9.00 am before departing to the start of the Holland Track. The track is the longest cart road ever made in one stretch in Western Australia. We’ll make our way through the country to several camps over the three nights.

At nights we’ll have a warm fire, and you can sit back, relax and enjoy nature.

Get in touch if you like the idea of safety in numbers and driving in a convoy.

Most 4×4 vehicles will do well on the track.

Day 1

We leave from Broomehill and start the Holland Track.

The first stop is Nowernalup Tank. This was one of John Holland’s first stops. We will admire the commemorative plaque before continuing to make red dust. We will continue and stop at spots of significance, such as Holland Rock, Silver Wattle Hill and Dragon Rocks, tracing Holland’s steps and water sources he found.

We’ll spend our first night at Wave Rock Weekender campground in Hyden, with excellent facilities.

Day 2

We will be leaving Hyden early in the morning to get a good start on the more difficult part of the track. Along the way, we will take time to stop at as many of Holland’s camps as possible. Emu Rocks and the view from Mt Holland are worth it.

As the sun set, we will stop at one of the many bush camps, somewhere along the track.

Day 3

We explore the many famous Rocks along the way. We will also visit Gnarlbine Rock which was one of the principal places of interest for Mr Holland. He was very impressed when they navigated straight on to it. The water sources were also a central water supply for the early Coolgardie gold rush prospectors. This may be a good spot for lunch if we travel well.

We’ll head for Cave Hill Reserve, one of the largest and highest granite outcrops in the region, to set up camp for the night. The historical 65 years old woodlines track quickly takes you back to the days when timber was needed to support mining operations. We will be camping at the foot of the cave with spectacular sunsets. Exploring the Cave Hill Woodlines, we follow some of the many kilometres of railway tramlines that crisscrossed this area in the early days of Gold mining in the area. If you search, it’s likely to come across ancient indigenous cave art.

Day 4

After a late start, we will continue to explore the Burra rock road to Coolgardie.
We will visit the pioneer graveyard in Coolgardie and search for John Holland’s and wife Agnes’s graves.
We will then say our goodbyes so that everyone can get home safely
